Non-East African Volunteers

Program Requirements:

The volunteer must:

• Be 18 years or older
• Have no major health problems
• Have no criminal record
• Be self motivated, patient, open minded and respect local culture, traditions and dress code.

Program Schedule: 8-12.30 pm and 2.00pm -5 pm on atleast 3 days a week. Weekends are free. Volunteers can pursue their own interests on weekends.

Transportation: Volunteer placements will be within walking distance of the host home. Local public transport to and from your volunteer project work can be arranged. The cost will normally not exceed US$ 2 per day.

Accommodation and Food: You will be provided with your own room and 3 meals a day. The meals will be nutritious and local. Vegetarians are catered for. This arrangement ensures that you get fully immersed in to the culture and at the same time have your own privacy.

Pick Up: You will be picked up at the airport by a SDFA-Kenya's Volunteer Coordinator upon your arrival.

Arrival: Any day of the week apart from weekends.

Supervision: Programs will be open to anyone with or without any prior training. You will work under the supervision of local staff and the persons in charge of placement facility. You will be hosted close to the projects under which you work

A certificate of participation will be issued at the end of the placement period.
